Chemistry Communicators' Challenge '21

4 November 2021 17:30-20:30, United Kingdom

Introduction
Following the success on the previous year, we are hosting the event virtually (via Zoom) so you can present or listen to great Chemistry talks from the comfort of your own home.

For prospective presenters, presentations are invited to address the following 3 themes:
• Chemistry as part of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
• A story behind an element of the periodic table
• Chemistry in our everyday lives

This year, our chosen theme, alongside our usual themes, is to challenge chemist communicators to showcase chemistry as part of the UN’s sustainable development goals, e.g. clean water and sanitation, innovation in chemical production, net wero energy, etc. Participants in this section should specifically reference which SDG(s) their talk highlights.

Each speaker is given 5 minutes to present their topic with PowerPoint presentation (no other visual aids permitted).

Prizes will be awarded for the best talk in each section and an additional ‘most entertaining’ award.

For a flavour of our previous, physical version of the Chemistry Communicators’ Challenge please see - /news-events/community/2018/nov/chemistry-communicators-challenge/

To apply: Please submit an abstract of your talk, in no more than 150 words (including 1 diagram if you choose), to secretaryrsccm@gmail.com. Please also indicate which theme you wish your abstract to be in.

Joining instructions will be emailed to registered attendees and presenters on the week of the event.
