The future of smart and flexible electricity networks in the UK

11 December 2018 09:00-13:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
This seminar will examine the key priorities for developing smart electricity grids in the UK, within the context of the Industrial Strategy and Clean Growth Strategy, and the continued development of the Smart Systems and Flexibility Plan.
Attendees will discuss the opportunities for improving grid digitisation, and the integration of energy storage technology, in light of reforms to transmission and distribution regulation, and reviews to network connection rights and charges.
Delegates will also consider the challenges for building smart electricity infrastructure - looking at investment burdens, demand pressures from electric vehicle charging, the integration of intermittent renewable energy, and cyber security threats.
Further sessions will assess the future of grid flexibility and priorities for coordinating supply across the system, as well as how innovations in technology can develop smart electricity grids.
