Dr John Hudson, Chair of the Historical Group of the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry, will outline the life and work of Josiah Wedgwood, illustrated with examples of some of his more famous products. But Wedgwood was also a scientist, being elected a Fellow of the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and publishing five papers in the society’s Philosophical Transactions. Dr Hudson makes the case that Wedgwood’s success as a potter was in no small part due to his ability as a scientist and the careful experimental approach that he adopted in perfecting his wares.
