Explore the Burlington House Courtyard like never before, and discover the colours of the six learned societies that reside here.
In the courtyard street stalls will be serving up confit duck rolls and craft beer.
At the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry your mission is to protect astronauts from the effects of harmful UV light. Experiment with different coloured materials to discover which blocks UV light the best. Explore the effects of sunlight with light-sensitive beads and find out why you snap glow sticks to add colour to a party.
In our library we will have comedy, cartoons, colourful demonstrations and more! Chemical scientists will be getting creative about sharing their chemistry.
Our speakers will be:
Florian Buhr: Foodie, Biochemist, and Research Associate at the Centre for Misfolding Diseases at the University of Cambridge
Matthew Partridge: Research Fellow in chemical sensing technology at Cranfield University and cartoonist and irreverent science blogger at ErrantScience.com
Toria Stafford: Bookworm, chocolate addict, human fruit bat and pint-sized chemistry PhD student
Andres Tretiakov: Science Technician working in a school and demonstration performer with the motto “eat sleep and live chemistryâ€
No booking is required. Some activities around the courtyard may require booking/or a participation fee; all activities at the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry are free and are suitable for all members of the public unless otherwise specified.
