Next steps for UK health life sciences

Introduction
The conference is timed to discuss next steps for implementing the Accelerated Access Review - due to report in the summer - which will look at policy and regulatory priorities for speeding up the development and adoption of innovative medicines and medical technology.

Sessions will also assess policy strategy for the sector, including funding initiatives for SME and academic-led projects with commercial potential, such as the Biomedical Catalyst Funding and the recently launched Health North programme, aimed at developing regional healthcare innovations.

The seminar will bring together key policymakers, regulators and representatives from pharmaceuticals, bio and medical technology industries, as well as universities, NHS partnerships, investors and commentators.

Nicole Mather, Director, Office for Life Sciences has kindly agreed to deliver a keynote address at this seminar.

Dr Virginia Acha, Executive Director, Research Medical and Innovation, ABPI; Professor Tim Hubbard, Head of Bioinformatics, Genomics England; Julia Manning, Chief Executive, 2020health; Dr Spyros Manolopoulos, Consultant Clinical Scientist and Radiotherapy Physics Strategy Lead, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust; Neil Mesher, Managing Director, Philips Healthcare UKI; Professor Stephen Moss, Vice-Dean Enterprise, Faculty of Brain Sciences, UCL Institute of Ophthalmology; Toby Reid, Director, BioCity Nottingham; Professor Hilary Thomas, Chief Medical Adviser and Partner, Healthcare Advisory, KPMG and Dr Hakim Yadi, Chief Executive Officer, Northern Health Science Alliance and a speaker confirmed from the Precision Medicine Catapult have also agreed to speak.
