Freedom to Operate

Introduction
A half day course providing training on freedom to operate (FTO) also known as Freedom to Practise. Learn how to conduct a comprehensive FTO search and analysis to identify and deal with third party intellectual property (IP) rights, particularly patents that could prevent or restrict the introduction of your new products, processes or services.

The course is suitable for R&D scientists, engineers, managers and IP analysts in organisations involved in the development and introduction of new products and services, together with their advisors such as lawyers and trainee /newly qualified patent attorneys.

The course covers IP Rights, How to Read a Patent, FTO Searches, Infringement and Enforcement, Claim Interpretation, Design Arounds, Validity Searches, Challenging Patents, FTO Exercises.

The course will be held at the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys in London.
