HIV in 2012 and the future

8 March 2012, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
HIV is now very much a chronic disease. More and more, all healthcare professionals will participate in the care of HIV positive patients, who are staying healthy but inevitably ageing.

Do you feel that you would like to learn about HIV and the possible ways in which you may encounter it in your practice? Would you like to gain up to date knowledge on how HIV is now treated and scenarios you may face.

The course provides an introduction to HIV, where we are in 2012, how the face of HIV is changing and gives the opportunity to discuss practical issues with a team of experts.

By the end of the course you will understand:
o How we are managing HIV in 2012
o The issues surrounding testing and diagnosis of HIV
o How to recognise potentially undiagnosed HIV in primary care
o How aging and HIV interplay
o How to deal with common age related co-morbidity in patients with HIV.

• Learn about the current state of knowledge of the subject, both in terms of theoretical basis and practical experience.

• Acquire knowledge you will be able to apply to day-to-day consultations with HIV positive patients.

Who should attend
This study day is aimed at all health professionals. Topics discussed are relevant to cross sector care (primary, secondary and PCT). Theory is presented but practical information is the cornerstone to each presentation.
