Title: Ion mobility mass spectrometry insights into dynamic protein complexes and conformations
Have you wondered how the dynamic behaviour of native proteins can be measured with mass spectrometry? In this talk I will show how ion mobility mass spectrometry (IMMS) can provide information on protein complexes that exist in a stoichiometric mixture, including protein complexes that are formed by PROTACs and molecular glues. I will also demonstrate that IMMS is particularly suitable for investigating intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) that exist and function in a wide range of conformations. IMMS can track the conformations of IDPs that are responsible for liquid-liquid phase separation, as well as delineate their conformational change in response to drug and ligand binding.

Talk title: Exploring strategies for biomolecule-material conjugation
3D biomaterials can be used to scaffold the growth of human cells, and the formation of in vitro models of healthy and diseased tissues. In this talk, I will give an overview of our efforts to develop new bioconjugation strategies that can be used to functionalise these materials with the key biochemical signallings ligands needed to drive cell growth. I will focus on our recent efforts to site-selectively modify native proteins without the need for protein engineering, and to allow fully reversible attachment of bioactive peptides.
