3 November 2016 18:30-20:30, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
THIS IS EVENT IS NOW FULL PLEASE E-MAIL THE EVENTS TEAM IF YOU WISH TO GO ON THE WAITING LIST

Join us for an illuminating tour of the electromagnetic spectrum, stopping along the way to discuss the amazing chemistry, techniques and people associated with each type of electromagnetic radiation. We’ll be looking at everything from investigating colours that don’t exist, to the excitement of spy operations in wartime Europe.

A science communicator at heart, Sean loves nothing more than having his hands submerged in slime or producing atomic biscuits. So it is perhaps inevitable that along the way we’ll also be discovering the importance of these ideas and techniques in everyday life, and examining how (and why) we should make complicated science accessible to the public. Be prepared to get involved!

Sean has worked in science centres since he was 15, and completed both his BSc and PhD at the University of East Anglia before moving to London to take up a post at the Royal Institution of Great Britain (Ri). While at the Ri he was responsible for developing the demonstrations within the 2012 Christmas Lectures: The Modern Alchemist, and was involved in the International Year of Crystallography before joining the L’Oréal Young Scientist Centre writing and delivering hands-on laboratory workshops to children. He is one of the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥â€™s 175 Faces of Chemistry, and also appeared  on National Geographic and terrestrial TV shows before taking up his current role at the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry in late 2015.
